My Top 6 Magazines

Always in print:

#1 / Monocle
Started by Tyler Brule (who founded Wallpaper in 1996) is my absolute favorite. It’s all about the quality of life! Monocle is a new entrant which shows there is always room for innovation even in a declining industry. While newspapers are closing overseas offices and trimming staff, Monocle is adding offices and expanding its staff on various continents (and has inverted the subscription model!). Read a short interview with Brule.

#2 / Scientific American Mind
Takes you inside our mind with clear and understandable reviews on breakthroughs in psychology and neuroscience.

#3 / Economist
A classic, Economist is a must read for anyone concerned with our world’s current status of politics, economy, science and technology. I love it.

#4 / Wired
Expired > Tired > Wired

#5 / Technology Review
The oldest technology magazine in the world published by MIT. Helps you to understand emerging technologies and their commercial, social, and political impacts.

So, Which are the top 10 emerging technologies for 2008?

Two of the technologies–cellulolytic enzymes and atomic magnetometers–are efforts by leading scientists to solve critical problems, while five–surprise modeling, connectomics, probabilistic CMOS, reality mining, and offline Web applications–represent whole new ways of looking at problems. And three–graphene transistors, nanoradio, and wireless power–are amazing feats of engineering that have created something entirely new.

#6 / Wine Spectator
The bible for all wine aficionados.
