Nothing Ever Happens (vol. Joie de vivre)

Finally I can say: “Nothing ever happens, without someone making it happen.”

It’s 4:42 a.m. Friday night (Saturday morning) and I’m just back from office.

I’ve been working with different teams on three parallel projects the whole day (they are still at the office!); came back home to see my son and put him to bed; drove back to the office; ordered pizzas; and had a GREAT time. I am SO proud to have such highly charged and dedicated individuals on my team.

The energy that accumulates during such night gatherings is remarkable: I was inspired and I inspired, I learned a lot, and I taught.

Q: But honestly, one would ask, why? Are you suffering from the workaholics syndrome?
A: Yes and No.  Throughout our lives, the opportunities to make a difference, to have a positive impact on the world around us, are very, very few. When you sense one: leave everything, and do it. It might be one of the few chances in your life to feel accomplished, to feel part of something bigger, part of a collective, an integral part of a higherly evolved structure, a cell in a more complex organism, and feel something close to eternity, perfection, wholeness.
Q: Do you really believe your whatever product will really change the world and will not be forgotten by the future?
A: No. It does not really matter. Someday they will look down on Newton, someday human beings will not exist anymore. It’s just liberating to feel part of the nothingness and boredom that surrounds us. And it’s just because nothing ever happens.

    One of my favorite quotes:

“If it was easy, everyone would do it.”

Then there’s also the classic - no pain, no gain. Sometimes we must make sacrifices to ensure our success and satisfaction.

    Way to be dedicated, Andrej!
