Good Lessons From Habbo

September 12th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Habbo DreamsHow did a small Finnish company create Habbo Hotel an online world which now boasts the largest current active user base in Europe and North America (6.5 million), far larger than World of Warcraft (around 4.5 million, without its Chinese audience)?

Lessons?
Read a great report on the creating of Habbo Hotel.

With 18 offices, 300 employees, and $77M in annual sales, Sulake’s (the company behind Habbo) “phenomenal success” continues to be “criminally under-appreciated” by the game industry (GigaOm’s comment). Read more on Sulake’s organization, 5 different revenue streams and growth on their really funky and funny corporate website!

Sulake recently acquired (great read on their growth strategy into social networking) Finland’s leading social networking service IRC-Galleria, and Sulake’s software developers have been converted to using the Scrum agile and iterative approach to product development (What is Scrum.pdf).
